Gabriella Rustici is the Bioinformatics Training Manager for the School of Biological Sciences of the University of Cambridge.

She earned her PhD in Genetics from the University of Cambridge in 2004, working on transcription profiling of the fission yeast cell cycle, and first got involved in bioinformatics training while working at EMBL-EBI, with a particular focus on developing training solutions in the functional genomics domain.

Her current activities focus on training and educating the life science and biomedical communities to use bioinformatics resources for the analysis and interpretation of biological and biomedical data. She collaborates with academic scientists, healthcare professionals, industrial partners and educational bodies worldwide in order to understand the needs of the research community for bioinformatics training and promote the organization of courses that specifically address such needs. In recent years, her activities have concentrated in developing training solutions for high-throughput sequencing and image data analysis.

As Deputy Head of the UK’s ELIXIR Node she is focusing on community building; within the ELIXIR Training Platform, she is leading the development of standards and best-practice guidelines for the assessment of training impact.

She is also an active contributor to the Global Organisation for Bioinformatics Learning, Education and Training (GOBLET) and the ISCB Education Committee.
